What can I do about the plumbing (toilet, sinks, tubs) and the water line from the pump house to the house. There are lights under the house every 6 feet for the plumbing, but what kind of light bubs would last for 3 months? And what am I overlooking? Any advice would be appreciated….thanks.
The elevation is 7600 feet and the temp. drops to -10 as a rule.

Our house has standard house wiring that has 6A breakers. Can the house wiring carry more voltage than its designed too? Like I have a Belkin Surbe protector that has 300V MOV’s but I think the clamping voltage is over 700V. What if the house wiring is designed to carry 600V max… will this mean the surge will hit the devices without clamping the MOV?

Also is it possible that a surge can melt the house wiring and cause fire because the surge protector conducted a surge?

I had an electrician tell me the electrical work that was done when my house was built is sub-par. I and many of my neighbors have had numerous problems from outlet fires to wires being live even with the breaker to the room shut off. Of the 6 houses directly across the street from me, four have been struck by lightning in the past year. Could shoddy electrical work increase the likeliness of a house being struck by lightning?

I can’t afford much more than a house that needs work. Not afraid of that at all, except windows and roof. What kind of prices should I expect if I want replacement windows or roof repairs. I don’t want a get down estimate, I don’t own a house yet. Just want an idea what other peeps have paid so I know if I’m making a bad decision or not. Thanks!

Tom asked:

I had several leaking joints along the gas pipelines in my house attic and am wondering if it is possibly caused by the foundation setting problems?
In other words, is there any relationship between gas pipeline leaks and house foundation problems?
Yes, the gas leaks have been all fixed and the plumbers didn’t know exactly why there were quite a few leaking joints along those metal pipelines in the attic.

The leaking pipes are located in my attic and they are all steel pipes and steel joints. Those pipes are supported on the wood board in the attic.

Can house foundation or structure problems cause those leaks in the pipeline joints?

I have 20 gallons of masonry paint that I was going to use to paint a house I ended up sellling. I still like the color, and I was wondering if I could paint my present house with it. This house has wooden window moldings, but is sided with some kind of pressed-board siding, like Masonite. I believe the paint is latex-based. Any suggestions?

They just hold on to everything! There are newspapers from months past, soda bottles, shoes, clothes, boxes, anything you can imagine just exploding from each room in the house! I have already tried cleaning their house myself, but I don’t get anywhere. I do the dishes, clean the counters, etc. but they are just recluttered within a week! What are some ways I can help them or get some serious intervention for de-cluttering their home?

We got hit by hurricane Rita almost 2 years ago and we still have a blue tarp on our roof. We are renting and the owner of the house didn’t have insurance on the house so we stll have a blue tarp covering it. I’m worried about this years hurricane season. I can’t afford to move and I’m trying my best to safe up to get it fixed but in the meantime, how do I keep my house safe? No jokes please. I’m still trying to get mold spores out of the house.
Sorry to hear about all of that. FEMA said we had significant damage but said they couldn’t help us because I forgot to include my middle name when I signed my name during the inspection of my house. They caontacted me 8 months after the hurricane, after is started raining in our house and leaks were everywhere and then they mentioned they could have helped us but I left out my middle name on my signature. I had to show proof who I was about 3 times and finally I got it straight but then I recieved a letter in the mail from FEMA saying I missed the deadline and they couldn’t help us fix the roof. So now I am saving up to have it fixed.
